Project Information

10 East 40th Street or the Mercantile Building is a skyscraper located in the Murray Hill section of New York City, between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue, taking the width of the block between 39th and 40th streets. Designed by Ludlow & Peabody and built by Jesse H. Jones, it was finished in 1929 and is an example of Renaissance Revival architecture. When it was built, it was the fourth-tallest tower in the world.

NY Engineers provided professional MEP/FP engineering consultation services for the renovation. The project consists of MEP/FP consulting work for tenant fit-out work for approximately 6,822 ft2 of space on the 21st and 22nd floors. The 21st floor should be a 1,120 ft2 area comprised of a bar/lounge area. The 22nd floors shall be a 5,702 ft2 area comprised of office space, including 28 small workstations, 7 large workstations, 6 internal offices, 8 window offices, and one conference room.
