HOTEL GANSEVOORT

Project Information

Set amid the buzzy nightspots of the Meatpacking District, this modern hotel overlooking the neighborhood's old warehouses is 2 miles from the Empire State Building. The chic, contemporary rooms and suites come with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs; upgraded units have bay windows or balconies; some suites add separate living areas. There's a trendy bistro, and a lobby bar, plus a nightclub and rooftop bar. The heated rooftop pool with panoramic views is open year-round. Other amenities include a business center, a 24-hour fitness room, a spa (surcharge), and a hair salon, plus loaner bikes. The upper floors offer Manhattan and Hudson River views.

How We Helped HOTEL GANSEVOORT

We have provided professional MEP/FP engineering consultation services for the renovation. Our proposal was based on the drawings sent and the meeting with our office on 05-31-2016. The project consisted of a full gut renovation of the first floor and mezzanine. The existing restaurant was reduced to 2,623 ft2 white box restaurant space. The kitchen hood remained. The hotel lobby was reduced to 1,668 ft2 – NY Engineers designed this space. Two new white box retail spaces are created: one at 2,348 ft2, and one at 2,530 ft2. FSDs are powered by emergency power. Demolition work was covered with notes, no demolition drawings were prepared. White box spaces shall meet the code minimum to obtain a TCO before a future tenant builds the space. The white box includes heat, cooling, basic lights, 1 bathroom, a basic sprinkler, and a fire alarm. The restaurant reduced to 1,315 ft2. The mechanical mezzanine was reduced by relocating all existing mechanical equipment including a large smoke exhaust fan. No work was done in the cellar. The hotel was closed for 3 months for construction of this work. George Langer was the principal in charge of this project.
