Get State of The Art Electric Car Charging Stations

Highly Customized Electric Car Charging Stations

Customized Electric Station

Electric car charging stations is a significant part of a large infrastructure that supplies the electric energy to vehicles. The vehicles use this electric energy for recharging batteries. This includes electric cars, electric neighborhood electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. In order to charge at your home or at work, some electric vehicle charging stations have in-house converters that can plug themselves into a standard electrical outlet on the wall or any other high-capacity outlet used for appliances such as washers or air conditioners.

Whereas, other electric car charging stations may require or use a vehicle charging station that offers efficient electrical conversion, thorough monitoring and some safety functionality. Just like normal fuel stations where you stop your vehicle and rejuvenate the fuel tank in order to go on with your trip, the same is the case with electric vehicle charging stations.

The electric charging stations are necessary when traveling. By using the state of the art car charging stations the customers get to benefit from the higher voltage and current values that contribute to faster charging than residential or office based charging stations.

Public electric vehicle charging stations are installed on streets by large organizations. They are provided usually by large electric utility companies or they may be located at some shopping centers, eateries or parking lots. Most of these are owned and operated privately by companies.

Different Types of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Offered By NYE

Parking lot stations

Several places like shopping centers and large convention centers provide the facility of parking lot stations. The charging stations are built on the parking spaces so you can charge your car while you go off to do your work or complete your shopping list. This is normally a commercial venture that is offered for free or sometimes with a fee.

This type of charging station allows fast charging but some low-grade places offer very slow charging. It gives customers the incentive to make use of this facility provided by the organization while the customer can make use of the other amenities offered.

Residential charging stations

Most electric vehicle owners want to plug in their electric vehicles at their own home in the vicinity of their garages. Usually, the cars are left to charge overnight. These stations are mostly built within the house. While the owner has the option to use any appliance socket or a normal electric socket for charging the vehicle, it is recommended that a special charging station should be present.

The special customized charging stations provided to homes are more efficient in terms of charging time and output. These stations are usually built in a way to provide more voltage output and a higher current value than normal sockets or even appliance sockets.

Public charging stations

Public charging stations are somewhat like regular fuel stations that you’d find on the roadside to a motorway or a highway. These electric vehicle charging stations offer up to 100 kW of output that is more than enough to quickly charge your vehicle. The charging time for these stations is normally 10 to 30 minutes. These charging stations act as rest stops for longer distances.

Safety Standards Compliance

Station Safety : Station safety is our top priority. Any physical structure with wiring and electric power involved can cause a lot of physical damage to not only the vehicle but also the station itself and the staff. For this reason, we build all of our stations with safety procedures in mind. All of our stations are equipped with firefighting equipment such as fire blankets, fire pails, hoses, and even fire extinguishers.

New York Engineers never compromise on your safety. We place firefighting equipment on several points in the charging station. This is done so that even if one part of the charging station is on fire, the other parts can be accessed. Our team of engineers makes sure to place the chargers farther away from the main office where the major firefighting equipment is kept. Our team also provides a guide on how to perform maintenance checks on all the fire and other safety measures taken to keep the electric vehicle charging station safe and sound.

Sensors : The chargers are a huge part of the charging stations as they are the main outlet for the electrical energy to go into the battery of the vehicle. The chargers provided by NYE consist of sensors that are intelligent devices placed on the chargers themselves to regulate any spike in voltages or current readings. The sensors monitor the power consumed by the charger and continue providing power until the threshold is violated.

Using these smart sensors in our chargers we make sure that no surge voltage or runoff current damages the vehicles or their batteries. Our sensors are connected to the main system that is controlled using special software provided by NYE. This special software maintains the current and voltage readings from the sensors and then alerts the administrator of any kind of problematic readings. The software is made smart enough to shut down operation in the case of surges or low voltages in order to protect property as well as electrical consumption. A maintenance guide is provided to our clientele explaining how to maintain the sensors and uphold the safety standards set.

Software : The customized software form NY Engineers provide top-notch software that helps to manage the current and voltage settings on the chargers. This administrative software monitors the systems and identifies, when and where a fault has occurred so that a team can be sent to fix it. This saves up a lot of time and prevents hazards from happening as it can frequently happen that chargers fail or cause trouble.

This software is constantly updated by our team as newer and more stable versions become available with better features. Some of these updates also come with more administrative features and safety guidelines to be implemented.

Standards Related To Electric Car Charging Stations

Voltage and Power Standards : The US-based SAE organization defines three different levels of charging according to the voltage output and power consumption. Level 1 charging is defined as using a standard 120 volt AC outlet found in the house to charge up the electric vehicle. The Level 1 charging is known to be slow and sometimes a pain because of the slow charging it provides. The Level 1 charging is recommended to all those who wish to have their vehicles charged up for a smaller distance or used to commute.

The Level 2 charging features a 240 Volt AC charging station. This level of charging is vaguely similar to household appliances such as washing machines, cloth driers, and even dishwashers. The Level 2 charging stations range from garages to some slow public charges available on the highway and in the city. These charging stations normally take around 5 to 6 hours to completely charge up the vehicle fully. Level 2 charging stations are often used in places that are destinations such as shopping malls and convention centers so that people can charge their cars while going off for work or shopping. The Level 2 charging stations are best for those people who normally use their vehicles for more time and therefore need much more flexibility in terms of charging and durability.

Level 3 charging is defined as providing up to 400 amperes of electric current. However, this charging level has been dropped by SAE. It is considered unsafe and somewhat unstable for public use. It poses a great hazard to the general public who wishes to charge their cars quickly.

Get Fast Charging Time : The time that the electric vehicle takes to charge up fully from the electric vehicle charging station is normally considered the charging time of that station. The charging time depends on the capacity of the battery placed in the vehicle as well as the power provided by the charging. In simpler terms, the rate of charging depends on the charging level used in the charging process. And the charging level itself depends greatly on the voltage handling of the batteries in cars.

The US-based organization, SAE defines level 1 charging as the slowest, Level 2 as the mid-level and Level 3 as the fastest charging level. It is estimated that Level 3 can charge vehicles as fast as 45 minutes for a full 100 percent charged the battery.

The usable battery capacity offered by the first generation electric vehicles is about 20 kWh that can offer to cover a distance of about 100 miles. Plug-in hybrid vehicles normally have a battery capacity of up to 2 to 6 kWh. This offers a range of about 20 to 50 km.

Do You Need Changes To Infrastructure? NYE Got You Covered

This question has a different answer depending on where you live. If you live in a downtown area, then chances are that not a lot of changes are to be made to the existing infrastructure. Other than providing a new alternative fuel type over a network, there aren’t a lot of inherent problems or changes that infrastructure must face. These stations can utilize the existing electric grid present in the city or area. This is almost always enough to provide electricity to all customers.

However, the situation is different in the case that you live in a suburb. The challenges in suburb areas are much more when compared to the challenges faced by Downtown residents. The major problem is the supply of a large amount of electricity to the public for charging their cars.
